Natural Arch, 2023
These paintings were developed from Kypriadakis’ continuing fascination with waterfalls and the way light is captured in motion. Intuitively collaborating with the material properties of water and paint, she draws upon histories of post-minimalist and colour field painting,
This body of work was inspired by Springbrook National Park’s Natural Arch waterfall and the poem Waterfall, by Menashe, and offers moments of reflection and reconnection.
Waterfall
Water falls
Apart in air
Hangs like hair
Light installs
Itself in strands
Of water falling
The cliff stands
